Nerja

Nerja is an attractive coastal town with viewpoints, coves and a traditional centre, but it is less naturally level than several western Costa del Sol resorts.

Terrain and getting around

Hills, ramps, narrow pavements and changes of level are common. The route back from a beach or restaurant may be considerably harder than the outward journey.

Accessibility is personal: distance, gradient, surface, heat and crowding affect travellers differently. Trace the complete route from the accommodation to the places that matter, including the return journey.

Choosing where to stay

Choose accommodation by street and elevation, not by straight-line distance from the Balcón de Europa. Ask for photographs of the immediate approach.

Ask for the narrowest doorway, lift dimensions, bathroom transfer space, bed height and a step-free route to every hotel facility that will be used. Obtain important commitments in writing.

Airport transfers and local transport

Nearest airport: Málaga Airport. Transfers are normally by road. Public transport may not meet every wheelchair, luggage or late-arrival requirement.

Tell the transfer company whether the traveller can move into a vehicle seat or must remain in the wheelchair. Provide chair or scooter dimensions, combined weight, companion numbers and luggage details.
